Sound And Vision Bristol Show – ‘How I Saved Money…’
Being a keen AV and Hifi enthusiast I decided to take a trip down from sunny Bolton to The Bristol Show last year to have a closer look at the latest products. The Bristol show is a great AV and Hifi show that features all my favourite AV and Hifi brands like Sony, Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer and Wharfedale.
Visiting the show for the first time I was really impressed with the turnout, and the amount of brands that showcase at the show. Some of the Brands that were there included Acoustic Energy, Dali, Spectral, JVC, Mission, Quad, Onkyo and Bowers and Wilkins.
It was only £8 to get into the show, and I got a brochure and a floor plan to make sure I did not miss anyone. In the entrance I found accessory brands like Nordost, QED and Lawton trade. On the ground floor there were also headphone manufacturers Sennheiser, Goldring and Grado. All the larger LCD TVs, Plasma Televisions and AV brands like Sony, Panasonic and JVC where on the high floors in the bigger rooms as their products were far bigger than the accessories.
Having detailed demonstrations of each brand was great; it opened my eyes to all the different specialist brands out there, like Marantz, Fatman, Pro-ject and KEF. I recognised many of the brands from my local TV shop Sound and Vision, who I use very often when buying my home cinema equipment.
Upstairs in the bedrooms of the Marriott hotel where the Bristol show is held, manufacturers had set up demonstration rooms, one of my favourites was the Dali Room, but I can’t tell you how many times I heard the Jack Johnson song “Better Together”
Most of the manufactures at the show let you buy the products from them on the day and they sometimes have special offers on. However, I had the number of my local Sound And Vision TV shop so I made a note of the models that I had seen and was interested in and called them for a price. Over the phone I asked the Sound and Vision sales team for prices and I found them cheaper or at the same price as the manufacturers were selling them for at the Sound and Vision Bristol Show. Sound and Vision offered me the same products I had seen at the show for the same price or cheaper and they gave me the odption of free delivery and extended warranties.
My experience of the Bristol show was great, and I would recommend it to all budding AV enthusiasts. I would however take a number of a local AV and Hifi dealer like Sound and Vision and check if you can buy products cheaper from them than the manufactures.
